In Mill Creek’s small, tight-knit community, it is rare any changes go unnoticed. The closing of Toasted Bar & Grilled and the opening of The Northern Public House in its place is no exception.

When walking into the newly renovated space, there is one familiar feature left over from Toasted: the copper bar. Everything else is new and different.

With 40 brews on tap, a full bar and northwest wines, there will be something different to try on each visit. The taps themselves are set into an old water main pipe which is set across the room from a beautiful black and white nature mural, creating a comfortable urban living vibe.

The Northern Public House has updated the menu to be more American Pub fare, appealing to sophisticated yet simple pallets with things like seared Brussel sprouts and the roasted mushroom burger. These dishes are simple in ingredients but rich with flavor. The sprouts have been tossed with bacon and finished with a honey balsamic drizzle while the burger is made with local beef, roasted portabella and cremini mushrooms, Swiss cheese and all the fixings. The food makes it one of the tastiest menus for a modern sports bar.

“We really wanted to create a Northwest vibe,” said owner Shawn Roten. “From the wine and beer to the food and feel, we have tried to make sure every inch of this place feels like the Northwest.”

With the NFL season in full swing, this new sports bar is a popular place with great food and creative drinks to accompany fans of any sports team. The Northern Public House is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to midnight at 15415 Main Street in Mill Creek.
